A Senate committee roundtable addressed small business concerns regarding the Affordable Care Act insurance market, according to The Business Journals.

Here are four comments from the roundtable:

1. Many small businesses are experiencing premium increases in the double digits, as well as steep deductible increases.

2. Additionally, payers are pushing up the out-of-pocket costs for employees.

3. In reality, most small businesses have not received much aid from the Small Business Health Options Program or the Small Health Care Tax Credit.

4. Some small businesses offer health reimbursement arrangements, providing employees with a fixed amount of funds for medical costs. However, the Internal Revenue Service ruled HRAs do not fall within the ACA’s mandates.
