What you should know:
1. The Georgia legislature is approaching Crossover Day, scheduled for March 7. If the bill doesn’t pass one legislative chamber by then, “it will be generally considered dead for the year.”
2. Sen. Bill Cowsert, R-Athens, doesn’t believe a compromise will be reached between the House and Senate on their bills.
3. Mr. Cowsert said, “I don’t see it happening. I’m disappointed there hasn’t been a compromise reached. I appreciate the complexity of the subject.”
4. The Senate and House differ on how they’d approach ASCs. Although both bills would relax restrictions on ASCs, the Senate is still debating how relaxed the restrictions would be.
5. At the same time, a new ad campaign has sprung up called “Save Georgia Healthcare,” advocating for the bill’s defeat. No lobbying group has taken responsibility for the campaign.
