Former President Bill Clinton Calls for Healthcare Cost Transparency

Former President Bill Clinton spoke at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference and advocated for healthcare pricing transparency and driving down the cost of care by addressing preventable, chronic diseases, according to Info World.

President Clinton largely faulted the lack of capability from information technology incapability for keeping costs high and consumers ignorant, according to the report. He cited statistics that cost and quality of care often do not correlate.

He also showed support for electronic health record adoption and coding upgrades, saying both will be key to cost improvement.
