What you should know:
1. The Florida House and Senate each passed a bill with language permitting 23-hour stays in ASCs.
2. Current legislation says ASCs must discharge patients by midnight.
3. The Florida Society of Ambulatory Surgical Centers backed the bill. FSASC President Saul Epstein said, “With the new extended timeline, patients that require additional recovery time will receive it. This is a victory for patient healthcare.”
4. The Florida legislature also passed a bill to partially eliminate the state’s certificate of need laws.
