Here are five highlights:
1. In 2014, Florida privatized its healthcare program for 3 million poor residents, allowing the state to pay private health maintenance organizations. The HMOs then pay the physicians.
2. The agency received six complaints from midwives in the last eight months.
3. Florida changed its Medicaid program during 2013 and 2014 to focus on patient issues as opposed to provider issues.
4. The program created a centralized complaint process to better track and respond to all complaints and issues received.
5. During the month of September, the agency received complaints from 349 providers. The agency has 2,368 providers who can participate in the program at any time.
