Three things to know:
1. Warn coding staff of busy times. During periods where more surgeries are scheduled, coding staff should be given a heads-up so they can prepare for an increased workload.
2. Get a third-party assessment. Bringing in a third-party ASC coding expert to assess surgery center staff performance can identify areas for improvement.
3. Correct errors pronto. Consistent coding errors can lead to denials and fraud investigations. Fixing issues quickly can mitigate risks associated with coding errors.
