The plan, called BluePrint, will be available to individuals and family for both large and small employers in the 11-county Twin Cities area. The price is expected to be lower than “open choice” plans, and patients will be limited to Allina hospitals, clinic and physician groups.
The groups developed the plan after conducting interviews with physicians, patients and employers.
The unlikely partnership of a health system and insurance company is the result of healthcare reforms and rising costs creating an incentive for more coordinated patient care, according to the report.
