The Republican's ACA replacement, the American Health Care Act, could benefit payers drastically if passed, CNBC reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. The proposal removes the ACA's $500,000 deduction cap, which limits the amount of executive salaries payers can deduct as a business expense.
2. By eliminating the cap, payers would be able to deduct nearly the full value of a CEO's salary tax-free, CNBC reports.
3. For Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini, the company would be able to deduct more than $17 million.
4. Analysts believe the measure would encourage payers to pay executives more money as a result, while causing federal government revenues to drop.
