BCBS of Michigan launched its “Blueprint for Affordability” payment model in December 2019 with seven organizations in Southeast Michigan. The seven newly added provider organizations expand BCBS of Michigan’s Blueprint model across the entire state:

  • Affinia Health Network (Muskegon)
  • Holland Physician Hospital Organization
  • Genesys PHO (Burton)
  • Great Lakes OSC (Midland)
  • Munson Healthcare Clinically Integrated Network (Traverse City)
  • Northern Physicians Organization (Traverse City)
  • St. Mary’s PHO (Saginaw)

The model establishes cost targets for care provided to Blue Cross members, as well as clinical quality benchmarks for each participating health system or physician organization.

BCBS will financially reward organizations that meet quality metrics and keep costs below target. Organizations that don’t satisfy benchmarks will repay BCBS the amount over target.
