This process is costly and impractical, according to the report. A more intuitive EHR with reporting incorporated into the workflow would increase the ability to fix problems.

2. Embraced mobile technologies. Creating secure, reliable reporting for mobile devices could tap into the market of nearly 10 billion mobile devices by 2016. Mobile devices can help speed up treatments and error identifications, which will lead to increased patient safety.

3. Better infrastructure, analysis and insights. Tools such as natural language processing, pattern analysis and data analytics will help create new insights for the data being reported and improve treatment effectiveness.
