The Joint Commission grants accreditation to SpecialtyCare Intraoperative Neuromonitoring: 5 things to know

The Joint Commission granted Nashville, Tenn.-based SpecialtyCare, a provider of outsourced intraoperative neuromonitoring services, received accreditation in Surgical Ambulatory Healthcare.

Here are five things to know:

1. SpecialtyCare adds this new accreditation to its certification in Healthcare Staffing Services.

2. The accreditation, which applies to the company’s Remote Neuromonitoring Physicians business, went into effect on Dec. 23, 2015 and lasts for three years.

3. SpecialtyCare offers real-time neuromonitoring professionals who collaborate with surgical neurophysiologists and surgeons.

4. The company’s services enhance patient safety in 60,000 complex procedures annually.

5. “There are a great many benefits to an intensive review by The Joint Commission,” said Jonathan Walters, IONM president. “It lends to additional structure to continuous improvement efforts, strengthens patient safety standards, improves risk management and provides access to the industry’s leading practice guidelines and resources.”
