1. The Joint Commission launched the Pioneers in Quality program to support current and future Top Performer hospitals, as the organization’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures recognition program is “on hiatus” for a revamp.
2. The Joint Commission is working to align the Top Performer hospital qualifications to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program.
3. The Joint Commission’s program made changes to align with CMS and introduced the flexible reporting option last year as customers requested to choose which measure sets to report on and whether to report on electronic clinical quality measures. CMS requires hospitals report on at least four electronic clinical quality measurements.
4. Key components for the new Pioneers in Quality program include:

5. The Joint Commission aims to work with individual experts and healthcare organizations that successfully use electronic clinical quality measurements to improve and share lessons learned with other hospitals.
