The framework aims to provide a standardized approach for the capturing and presenting of information about adverse events including infections, medical complications and errors and accidents during patient care.
According to a news release from NQF, the framework offers seven guidelines that address issues including:
- how to convey low-frequency events;
- ways to protect patient confidentiality when reporting errors;
- guidance on using data from trusted sources;
- designing and implementing public reports; and
- strategies for displaying publicly reported data in a consumer-friendly way.
