Meet The Joint Commission’s chief nursing executive, COO: 5 facts

Mark G. Pelletier, RN, MS is The Joint Commission’s COO of accreditation and certification operations and Chief Nursing Executive.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Mr. Pelletier oversees the accreditation and certification process for more than 21,000 health care organizations and programs, all activities related to surveys, eligibility and application processes, customer account management and federal deeming compliance requirements.

2. He also develops accreditation and certification policy as well as survey technology while continuously refining the accreditation process and educating surveyors.

3. Mr. Pelletier was previously The Joint Commission hospital accreditation program’s executive director. He oversaw the hospital, critical access hospital and laboratory accreditation programs’ business development.

4. Mr. Pelletier held executive positions for several Chicago-area hospitals and is Libertyville, Ill.-based Condell Medical Center’s former senior vice president and COO.

5. He graduated from Mennonite College of Nursing at Normal-based Illinois State University.
