HIT Top Safety Concern for 2014

According to the ECRI Institute’s list, Top 10 Patient Safety Concerns for 2014, health IT is the biggest danger to patient safety.

“Data integrity failures with health information technology systems” was also included in the organization’s list of top 10 health technology hazards for 2014.

The item’s position on the list is attributable to the rise in electronic health record implementation and meaningful use incentives, according to the report’s coauthor and ECRI Institute’s Vice President of Health Technology Evaluation and Safety, James P. Keller, Jr., MS.
