World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists appoints Dr. Berend Mets board member: 4 key notes

The World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists appointed Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Berend Mets, MD, to its board, according to a Penn Live report.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Mets has had leadership positions for WFSA in the past, including council member over the last four years.

2. Dr. Mets will serve a four-year term on the board.

3. Dr. Mets completed residencies in anesthesiology at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, and Gloucester Royal Hospital in England.

4. He has a special interest in cardiac anesthesiology, thoracic anesthesiology, transesophageal echo and the effects of pharmacologic agent.
