University of Pennsylvania to Implement 3-Year DNP Program in Place of Anesthesia Masters Program

The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia have approved the development of an integrated three-year doctor of nursing practice program that will eventually replace the current two-year anesthesia masters program, according to The Daily Pennsylvanian.

The DNP program would include regular anesthesia and physiology courses as well as doctoral-level courses.

The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs has yet to approve the program. Enrollment is expected to begin in May 2015, according to the report.
