The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents in Lawton has approved several updates and expansions to programs within its college of nursing.

According to a Sept. 9 news release, the updates include the addition of a certified registered nurse anesthetist track within the Doctor of Nursing program.

The addition represents the first CRNA program at a public university within the state, and aims to address Oklahoma’s ongoing shortage of anesthesia providers, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
