Tulare Anesthesia Associates to dissolve over decreased surgery rates after anesthesiologist departs — 5 insights

Visalia, Calif.-based Tulare Anesthesia Associates is dissolving because of the eminent departure of Anthony Vierra, MD, ABC 30 reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The group provided anesthesia care at Tulare Regional Medical Center.

2. The group has seen its surgery reimbursement rate plummet, which the hospital attributed to their surgery numbers being cut in half.

3. Dr. Vierra said the anesthesia group dealt with the declining contract rates for a few months, but after it reached four months, he decided to step away.

4. One anesthesiologist in the group may stay at the hospital and form a new group.

5. Dr. Vierra will practice elsewhere after a short break.
