The researchers, K. Jinn Cin, MMed, and colleagues at Toronto Western Hospital, reported that dural puncture was achieved with a single needle insertion in 59 percent of ultrasound patients, compared with 46 of patients treated with the traditional, landmark-guided method.
The investigators also reported that ultrasound patients required a median of just four needle redirections, compared with nine in the landmark group, according to the report.
