Port St. Lucie modeled its bill after a similar one in Delray Beach, Fla., and Stuart, Fla., voted for a three-month moratorium on pain clinics, according to the report. Lake Worth, Fla., also placed a moratorium on pain clinics in its city limits in February.

The city’s police department cited increases in pain management clinics dispensing narcotics, such as oxycodone, without medical supervision for the need for such a law, according to the report.
