Portneuf Medical Center Sued for Alleged Anesthesia Monopoly

The owner of a medical consulting business has filed a lawsuit against Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, alleging the hospital prevented competition by controlling anesthesiologist groups in the area, according to a report in the Idaho Business Journal.

Terry Elquist contends that Anesthesia Associates of Pocatello, due to pressure from Portneuf, threatened to drop his consulting business if he opened a competing surgical center.

Portneuf has asked for a dismissal of the lawsuit.
