The “Circulating Nurse Act,” which passed by unanimous votes in both the House and Senate, will take effect in 60 days from its June 16 passing.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Mauree Gingrich and signed into law by Gov. Ed Rendell.
“Circulating nurses perform patient assessments, coordinate procedures and ensure patient safety and comfort in the operating room,” said Ms. Gingrich in a press release. “This significantly improves the patient’s experience and cuts down on potential mistakes. Countless lives have been, and will be, protected due to the oversight provided by circulating nurses in operating rooms.”
