Pennsylvania Anesthesiologist Pleads Guilty to Tax Case in Federal Court

An Erie, Pa.-based anesthesiologist plead guilty to filing a false tax form and agreed to pay back taxes of $342,361 plus interest on Wednesday, according to an Erie Times-News report.

Eliseo Roquiz, MD, is free on his own recognizance and continues to work at Millcreek Community Hospital and teach at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, according to the report. Dr. Roquiz pleaded guilty in federal court in Erie to a felony count of filing a false income tax statement by misstating his assets on an IRS form on June 10, 2005.

Dr. Roquiz failed to report on the form that he had opened a new bank account, was involved in a lawsuit and had transferred his house to another entity.
