Massachusetts Medical Society names Dr. James Gessner president: 5 things to know

The Massachusetts Medical Society named James S. Gessner, MD, president, according to a Wicked Local Brookline report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Gessner, a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1982, will serve a one-year term.

2. He has been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society’s board of trustees since 2006.

3. Dr. Gessner practices with Anaesthesia Associates of Massachusetts in Westwood.

4. He is also chairman of the Department of Anesthesia at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Mass., and has appointments at Boston Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

5. He is a past president of the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists, and he was a Massachusetts delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiologists from 1984 to 2009.
