International Anesthesia Research Society Honors Airway Management Expert

The International Anesthesia Research Society has honored Jonathan Benumof, MD, professor of anesthesiology at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, as its 2010 Teaching Recognition Award Recipient for Achievement in Education, according to a Newswise report.

The annual award honors one educator who has made longstanding, meaningful contributions to anesthesia education and clinical practice. Dr. Benumof has dedicated his career to improving airway management. The IARS awarded $10,000 to UCSD School of Medicine, which will be used to further the school’s airway management education program, according to the report.

In addition, all anesthesia residents at UCSD will receive complimentary memberships to IARS, including full-year subscriptions to the society’s journal, Anesthesia & Analgesia.
