Scranton, Pa.-based Geisinger Community Medical Center added anesthesiologist Venkat J. Iyer, MD, to its staff, the Times Leader reports.

1. Dr. Iyer will join the center’s anesthesiology team.

2. Dr. Iyer began his career after earning his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Drexel University. He completed an internal medicine residency at Akron, Ohio-based Cleveland Clinic and an anesthesiology residency at Hershey-based Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

3. Dr. Iyer is an American Society of Anesthesiologists Political Action Committee and American Society of Anesthesiologists member.
