The Department of Health had accused Dr. Puig of providing improper care to a woman during a Jan. 2, 2009, facelift and eyelid surgery. The patient developed a condition called compartment syndrome, which can result in nerve damage and loss of function, according to the DOH report.
The hearing officer said the DOH could not prove Dr. Puig violated standards of care. The officer also said that when the woman’s post-surgery problem came to light, Dr. Puig gave appropriate follow-up care.
