CMS clarification: Payers cannot charge screening colonoscopy patients for anesthesia

Confusion has surrounded just what patients will owe when undergoing a screening colonoscopy, but CMS has offered some guidance, according to an NPR report.

CMS stated that payers cannot charge patients undergoing screening colonoscopy for anesthesia, but some ambiguity about charges remain. The NPR report pointed out that patients could still be held responsible for facility of pathology charges.
