Dr. Kaiser was patrolling the streets of Westlake at 3:20 a.m. when a frantic man called 9-1-1 and reported that his wife was giving birth. When Dr. Kaiser arrived, he realized the baby was not breathing. Though he had not delivered a baby since medical school 20 years before, he relied on his training to reposition the mother and guide the baby out.
Once the baby was born — still not breathing and without a pulse — Dr. Kaiser performed CPR and rushed the baby to Fairview Hospital along with a team of paramedics. The baby was revived in the rescue squad.
Dr. Kaiser serves as a police officer once or twice a month, according to the report.
