California pain clinic pays $860K to resolve Medicare fraud allegations — 3 details

Roseville, Calif.-based Advanced Pain Diagnostic & Solutions paid $860,000 to settle allegations it submitted fraudulent Medi-Cal reimbursement claims, according to The Sacramento Bee.

Three details:

1. A former nurse alleged Advanced Pain and its owner, Kayvan D. Haddadan, MD, knowingly billed California’s Medicare program for services performed by a nurse who was excluded from coverage.

2. Advanced Pain allegedly billed the nurse’s services under Dr. Haddadan’s billing number to indicate he had performed the services.

3. The whistleblower will receive about $154,860 from the settlement.
