According to the report, volatile anesthetics can trigger a potentially lethal malignant hyperthermia event that requires critical care crisis management. The anesthesiologists developed a guide based on clinical experience and scientific expertise. The guide recommends that IV dantrolene be initiated pending transfer, based on clinical research that demonstrates the likelihood of significant MH complications doubling for every 30-minute delay in dantrolene administration.
The guide includes a list of clinical problems and therapeutic interventions to assist each ASC in the development of its own unique MH transfer plan.
