Anesthesiologist Stops Practicing Following Negligence Accusations

Erlinda Vidal, MD, an anesthesiologist practicing in Watertown, N.Y., has agreed to stop practicing medicine in the state after being accused of negligence, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

Dr. Vidal agreed her license would "preclude patient contact and any practice of medicine, clinical or otherwise" on Nov. 19. She had practiced at Jefferson Anesthesia Services and served on the staff of Samaritan Medical Center since 1975 until her retirement four months ago.

According to the report, on or around Jan. 31, 2005, Dr. Vidal failed to take a patient's vital sign readings and document medical and medication history. She also failed to document the epidural placement location and the level of anesthesia given.
