Flat Medical, a medtech company specializing in safety solutions for anesthesia and pain medicine, has signed a dealership agreement with Mercury Medical for its EpiFaith syringe in the U.S.
The smart syringe converts the tactile loss-of-resistance technique into an objective visual signal during traditional epidural procedures, according to a June 16 news release.
The technology helps anesthesia providers to more accurately identify epidural space while keeping their hands free for needle control.
Mercury Medical has over 60 years of experience in clinical equipment markets, specializing in airway management and respiratory equipment.
The syringe has received an contract through Vizient’s Innovative Technology program and a “Technology Breakthrough” designation from Premier. It has been successfully used in thousands of clinical epidural placements globally, according to the release.
