Acupuncture May Relieve Shivering Anesthesia Side Effect

Acupuncture may help relieve shivering caused by regional anesthesia lowering a patient’s core body temperature, according to 7th Space.

Previous studies have shown that acupuncture on specific acupoints can preserve core body temperature.

A trial conducted on 40 patients in each group showed that after 15 minutes, 13 patients in the placebo group attained a shivering score of 3 or more, with 0 representing no shivering and 4 being most severe shivering. Only three patients in the acupuncture group scored a 3 or more
