AcelRx Appoints Dr. Mike Royal as Chief of Clinical Affairs

Redwood City, Calif.-based AcelRx Pharmaceuticals has appointed Mike Royal, MD, as the company’s chief of clinical affairs.

Dr. Royal is board-certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine and internal medicine. At AcelRx, which specializes in development of pain treatments, Dr. Royal will manage late-stage and post-approval clinical direction and medical affairs. He will work with clinical trial design and management, clinical publications, regulatory interactions and more.

For the past six years, Dr. Royal has worked with Cadence Pharmaceuticals, most recently as vice president of clinical development and medical affairs. He was responsible for the completion of an acetaminophen injection clinical development program and new drug application.
