The report includes data from a survey that polled 413,386 U.S. physicians. Around 31,400 physicians were from 25 specialty areas. The fieldwork was conducted by Medscape from Oct. 16 to Dec. 4 2013.

Here are seven key points from the report regarding anesthesiologist health:

•    More than 30 percent of anesthesiologists are on the typical American diet, which consists of meat and carbohydrates on most days.
•    Sixty-five percent of overweight or obese anesthesiologists say that they eat out at least once a week, but so do 55 percent of those who are normal or underweight.
•    More than 60 percent of anesthesiologists who are 46 years and older take some form of dietary supplement.
•    About 38 percent of anesthesiologists take a multivitamin, and only 15 percent take calcium.
•    Between 30 to 40 percent of anesthesiologists use complementary or alternative treatments.
•    More than 70 percent of anesthesiologists who are normal weight exercise at least twice a week whereas a little over 30 percent of obese anesthesiologists exercise that same amount.
•    Ninety-two percent of anesthesiologists think their health is good or excellent.
