5 new anesthesia programs being established, expanded

Here are five schools and institutions that are launching new anesthesia programs and expanding existing programs, as reported by Becker’s since Aug. 18.

  1. The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, W.Va., received initial accreditation to create a new anesthesiology residency program. 
  2. The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents in Lawton approved the addition of a certified registered nurse anesthetist track within the Doctor of Nursing program. 
  3. Kansas City University opened admissions for its new Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
  4. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville received $3 million to expand its nurse anesthetists program.
  5. The University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing received approval to launch a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia program.
