Texas is home to one of the largest numbers of ASCs in the nation.
Here are five ASC updates in Texas since June 1:
1. Healthcare real estate company Montecito Medical has purchased a 23,000-square-foot medical office building in Midland. The property is fully occupied and includes Midland Ambulatory Surgery Center and Midland Imaging Center, the city’s only freestanding imaging facility. The ASC is a joint venture among physicians, Midland Memorial Hospital and Chicago-based United Surgical Partners International. A local cardiology practice also leases space in the building.
2. In August, Great Hill Partners acquired The Woodlands, Texas-based Blue Cloud Pediatric Surgery Centers, which operates 32 facilities across 12 states.
3. Tampa, Fla.-based Sila Realty Trust acquired two medical outpatient buildings in Southlake, Texas, for $16.15 million. The facilities include a gastroenterology center and an ASC located near each other. The GI center is leased to GI Alliance, and the surgery center is leased to a joint venture between Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health, United Surgical Partners International and a group of physicians.
4. IRA Capital, a private equity firm, acquired Houston Physicians’ Hospital in Webster, Texas. The 148,950-square-foot facility is a multi-specialty surgical hospital and outpatient campus leased through a joint venture between the physicians, Memorial Hermann Health System and United Surgical Partners International.
5. Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health opened a new ASC in College Station, Texas. The new ASC will house ophthalmology, ENT, plastics and podiatry.
