Hoover Health Care Authority earns certificate of need following court decision

In November, Healthcare Resources purchased a 91-acre campus in Hoover, Ala., that it planned to convert into a mixed-use center anchored by an ASC and physician medical offices. Since then, the system has been tied up in court battles to earn a certificate of need for the proposed facility.

On May 28, a public hearing began after the ASC’s CON was contested by the Forest Park Group, which asserted that it plans to offer similar services to the ASC in the same area.

After three months of deliberation, the city of Hoover and Hoover Health Care Authority have earned the CON to move forward with the proposed ASC, according to an Aug. 26 report from the Birmingham Business Journal.
