California health systems have their eyes on ASCs

Here are five ASCs in California that have been acquired or announced within the last three months, as reported by Becker’s since March 5:

1. Greenbrae, Calif.-based MarinHealth Medical Center and San Francisco-based UCSF Health partnered to purchase equity stakes in San Rafael, Calif.-based Marin Specialty Surgery Center from ASC management company SCA Health.

2. Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health broke ground on an outpatient center that will house an ASC, medical offices and a brain health center.

3. UCLA Health acquired West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, which includes a freestanding ASC, from HCA Healthcare.

4. Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente opened its first ASC, the Antelope Valley Surgery Center in Lancaster, Calif.

5. Palomar Health opened an ASC in partnership with Deerfield, Ill.-based ASC operator SCA Health in Escondido, Calif.
