New York health systems opening 400k-sq-ft outpatient surgery-focused care center

New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is in the midst of constructing a 400,000-square-foot outpatient surgery-focused ambulatory care center, The Bridge reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The Community Care Center is set to open in April 2020.

2. The health systems plan for 100,000 patients to visit the center annually.

3. The center will offer oncology, gastroenterology and orthopedics services.

4. The center sits on the ground of what was previously 16 hospital-owned buildings.

5. The health systems hope the center can better accommodate Brooklyn residents, to prevent them from having to travel long distances for care.
