5 things to know about orthopedic surgeon Dr. Shawn Granger

Shawn Granger, MD, of Leesville, La.-based West State Orthopedics and Sports Medicine was recognized as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in Orthopedic Medicine by Continental Who's Who.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Granger.

1. Dr. Granger practices medicine at Alexandria-based Central Louisiana Ambulatory Surgery Center, as well as Leesville-based Doctors Hospital at Deer Creek and Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.

2. With over 10 years of experience, Dr. Granger specializes in areas including pain trauma, primary and reconstructive surgery, joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine.

3. Dr. Granger serves as team physician for the Leesville Wampus Cats. His professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, Louisiana State Medical Society, Louisiana Orthopedic Association and the International Association of HealthCare Professionals.

4. Dr. Granger obtained his medical degree from the University of South California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He completed an internship and residency at Aurora, Colo.-based Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and another residency at Tulane University in New Orleans.

5. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Granger served in the U.S. Army for nearly 16 years with tours in Iraq and Bosnia.
