Johns Hopkins All Children’s, UnitedHealthcare fail to reach agreement — Thousands of children could lose coverage

St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and UnitedHealthcare failed to agree on a contract negotiating rates for patient care, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The lapse could cause thousands of patients to lose in-network coverage.

2. The two parties were working on renegotiating their deal in late 2016. All Children’s was trying to increase its compensation rate by 60 percent, but later lowered that request to 35 percent. UnitedHealthcare offered a 20 percent increase in both instances.

3. United provides health insurance for most of the Tampa region.
