Here are five highlights:

1. A disc one-third the size of a contact lens, the KAMRA inlay is one-fourth as thick as a human hair.

2. Dr. Holzman implanted the disc, which includes a central opening, into a patient’s cornea.

3. The KAMRA inlay blocks unfocused light rays from the eye and permits focused light rays to enter the eye. This allows a full range of clear vision.

4. Dr. Holzman said he only implanted the disc into one eye, but the procedure will affect both eyes.

5. The $5,000 surgery lasts 20 minutes and is reversible.
