Here are four notes:

1. Health Care Service Corporation is the fourth largest commercial health insurer in the United States.

2. Through its affiliates, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, HCSC will make the LINX procedure available to its approximately 15 million members.

3. The LINX procedure is intended for the treatment of GERD as an alternative to surgical fundoplication.

4. This coverage decision follows the American Medical Association’s decision to create a new category 1 Current Procedural Terminology code for the LINX procedure.
