GI physician leader to know: Dr. Martin Freeman of University of Minnesota Medical Center

Martin Freeman, MD, is director of the division of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, as well as a professor of medicine. He is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine and is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Freeman’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal cancer, severe acute pancreatitis, bile duct stones, pseudocysts, interventional endoscopy and pancreatic and biliary cancer. He was named a top doctor by U.S. News & World Report, and in 2012, he won the Master Endoscopist Award from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His work has also been published in peer-reviewed journals, such as Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology.

Dr. Freeman earned his medical degree at Columbia University in New York. He completed his residency and GI fellowship at University of Minnesota Medical Center.
