Dr. Bowyer is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology. He also serves on the Mayo Clinic Referring Physicians Advisory Panel. Before joining Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Bowyer practiced with Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (Fla.) where he was chairman of both the information systems committee and electronic medical record task force when the organization was implementing electronic medical records.
Dr. Bowyer has a professional interest in therapeutic endoscopy, colorectal cancer screening and the management of inflammatory bowel disease. His scientific research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at the national conferences.
Dr. Bowyer earned his medical degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed his internal medicine residency as well as a gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn.
