Northwestern Memorial earns approval to double ORs at Chicago outpatient center

Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to double the number of operating rooms at its outpatient center, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The hospital will move forward with increasing the number of ORs from eight to 16. The undertaking is expected to cost $24.4 million. The expansion is motivated by an increase in demand for outpatient procedures.

The hospital’s Outpatient Care Pavilion opened in October 2014.
