Death is mostly due to pulmonary embolism, regardless of whether the procedure was inpatient or outpatient.
2. Intraoperative mortality rate: 1 in 478,000 procedures
Death is most likely related to chronic disease unrelated to the surgical procedure.
4. Infection rate: 1 in 2,400 procedures
No deaths in the dataset were directly linked to infection.
